Introduction to the study of drugs. How drugs affect the body and how the body affects drugs. Includes controlled and uncontrolled drug classification, generic and brand name medications, and the government agency that monitors the production and usage of drugs. Prerequisite: Placement by assessment into ENGL&101, or completion of ENGL 092 or 093 with a C or better. Successful completion of AHE 100 and 110 with a C or better at BC or permission of Program Chair.
This course introduces the practical application of administering medications to patients. The course covers both enteral and parenteral administration of medications including topical, oral, rectal, intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, and intravascular. Prerequisite: Successful completion of, or concurrent enrollment in AHEP 100, or permission of Program Chair.
