NAC 107 Nursing Assistant Technical Skills • 3 Cr.
Focuses on the daily care needs for adults including communication, safety and infection control. Provides opportunity to practice responses to emergency situations such as falls, non-responsive patient or a power outage. Prepares students for certification exam. Prerequisite: permission of instructor. Recommended: placement by assessment into ENGL& 101. Previously HPRO 117. Either HPRO 117 or NAC 107 may be taken for credit, but not both.
After completing this class, students should be able to:
Apply principles of infection control. Recognize normal and abnormal assessment data. Practice communication techniques that facilitate interactions among client, family, and health care team. Record pertinent data such as vital signs and weights. Practice providing a safe and comfortable environment for the client or resident. Demonstrate correct performance of specific skills required for certification examination.
